On Sunday, it’s World Environment Day!
It's a time to raise awareness for environment issues and – more importantly – to encourage us all to take action that will protect and heal our planet.
As a business we are always working on improving our practices to do the best we can for the environment. From our sustainable harvesting practices, to creating renewable resources, to using compostable packaging to ship our produce.
No-one is perfect, and we're always striving to do better. We also know that it can feel overwhelming when you look at the current state of our planet where:
- The Earth is heating up too quickly;
- We are losing habitat and biodiversity;
- Pollution, like carbon emissions, are poisoning our ecosystems.
We know it’s sometimes hard to know what to do. That's why we made the decision to partner with CarbonClick. They make climate action simple, and help to empower our business and our customers to create positive change.
By working with CarbonClick, our customers help by contributing to the highest quality, carbon offsetting projects in the world. This means we're making a real difference to the planet and to people. Every contribution helps to support reforestation and clean energy projects that are reducing carbon emissions and improving our planet.
With the help of our customers, we are all playing a critical role in reversing climate change and removing CO2 from our atmosphere.
So what other things can you do to help today? Why not get together with some friends or whanau, and adopt a local park or beach and pick up any rubbish you see.
Plant a native tree, or create some fun flower to create a gorgeous and fun space in your garden for our bees.
Compost your food waste rather than having it going to landfill. This reduces greenhouse gases and helps you put nutrients back in to your garden. If you don't have a large space, you can try a worm farm, or bokashi composting.
Wrapping presents for a birthday or gift - why not try our sustainable gift wrap ideas.
Create your own beauty products from simple ingredients you probably have in your pantry, like these DIY face mask ideas or our DIY Hair Masks.
There are so many fun and easy ways to help reduce the impact on our planet, if we all start with something small, we can make a huge difference.
