Trick or treat! It's that spooky time of year where ghosts and ghouls and witches brooms are making appearances in our neighbourhoods and kids start going crazy for sweet treats.
Halloween is the perfect time to have some fun and play with your food. This year we've but a spooky twist on our 4 ingredient pancake recipe and have played a trick on our chocolate honey sauce, turning it midnight black with food colouring.
4 Ingredient Pancakes
Ingredients
2 large eggs
2 cups/250ml milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups white self raising flour
Food Colouring (we used orange, green and black)
Place all ingredients in a bowl and whisk together until smooth. Divide mixture in three and colour each one with one of the colours.
Place a non-stick fry pan on medium heat and lightly grease with a knob of butter.
Pour in 1/3 cup of batter per pancake, and leave to cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbles appear on the surface, then flip and cook until the base is golden brown.
Transfer to a plate and place in a warmed oven while you cook the rest of the batter. Serve with the midnight black chocolate honey sauce.
We also made some whipped cream ghosts and added chocolate chips for the eyes for an extra spooky touch.
